Can you believe it? Back for a whopping 10th time by popular demand, it’s The Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Experience and is, without a doubt, the most popular stage race in Gauteng.

This race is a must if you are planning to do Epic, Joburg2C, Sani or The Leverage Corporation’s special 3-day stage race called The Great Kei Trek taking place in the Eastern Cape at the end of April in 2020.

The Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Experience is a tough and challenging three-day MTB event taking place from Friday the 28th of February to Sunday the 1st of March 2020. Please note new dates. We are now hosting this at the end of February, giving you more Training Time.

You have a choice of doing one of the following events:

Announcement 2: The Bridgestone Route 66 Lite is here to stay
This is really exciting – in 2019, we hosted The Bridgestone Route 66 Lite. Designed for you if you thought the challenges of a gruelling and tough 85km stage seem a bit daunting and you love riding stage races. We introduced Route 66 Lite - a 3-day stage race taking place at the same time. But remember, it’s still not a walk in the park.
Day 1 and 2 are shorter, and Day 3 will still be the “Fast and Furious” 60km route.

The Bridgestone Route 66 Lite offers the following distances:
Day 1 - 55km
Day 2 - 60km
Day 3 - 60km

Announcement 3: Introducing a Special Saturday 45km Route 66 1-Day Experience
Many riders are not up to a full 3-day of riding or some of the more daunting distances. As a result, we have introduced a moderate to slightly challenging 45km ride for riders of all abilities.

Announcement 4: Introducing The Bridgestone Route 66 All Stars
We are now 10 years old. As a result, we have agreed with Bridgestone to invite some of our previous winners from various age and gender categories to be part of an elite “ALL STARS” group who will be invited to come and ride as our special All Stars VIP Guest.

Announcement 5: Chauffeur Drive Service
In 2019 we introduced a limited special “Chauffeur Drive” service. It’s back for 2020. We will offer a limited service where we will have professional drivers take your car to the finish line on Day 1 and Day 3 on your behalf. If you have a hectic schedule, this will save you a lot of time. Numbers are limited, so early booking is essential. Bookings will open 17 February 2020 and will only be open to those who have already entered.

Announcement 6: You can earn Vitality Points by riding Route 66
That’s right. Vitality points are up for grabs when you enter any of the Route 66 events. Check out their website -, and search for the Vitality Race Calendar 2020 to find out how many points you can earn.
